East Jordan Freedom Festival

Summer starts with a bang with East Jordan’s Freedom Festival. With food, music, fun, entertainment, carnival, dancing, and more, the Festival is packed with activities for the entire family

Here's the typical schedule of events:

Daily Carnival Hours:

  • Thursday from 5-10pm
  • Friday from 2-10pm
  • Saturday from 12-10pm

*Armbands are $20 at the carnival but a pre-sale will take place for $5 off.

Wednesday

  • 6:30pm – Miss & Mr. Firecrackers Pageant at Memorial Park Band Shell- 101 Spring St., East Jordan (Rain location: the Boathouse on Lake Charlevoix- 204 Water St.) Three age divisions: Little Miss & Mr. for ages 5-8, Junior Miss & Mr. for ages 9-12, and Miss & Mr. Firecracker for ages 13-16. Thursday

  • 6:30pm – Youth Parade beginning on Main Street near Penzien Funeral Home, south down Main Street to Hammond Street, turning left and ending on Spring Street. Awards and refreshments immediately following the parade in Memorial Park.
  • 7pm – Magic by Jania at the Memorial Park Band Shell.
  • Dusk – PG Rated Outdoor Movie at the Adult Softball Field- Water St. Free.

Friday

  • 5:30-6pm – Cornhole Tournament Check-in/Registration at Memorial Park near restrooms. 16 teams allowed. $20/2-person team.
  • 6pm – Cornhole Tournament at Memorial Park.
  • 6-9:30pm – Block Party, Theme is “Live Free in ’23.” The event includes live music, food, games, prizes, booths with activities hosted by local organizations, and more.
  • 6:30-9:30pm – Live music featuring Derailed at the Memorial Park Band Shell.
  • 7pm, 8pm, AND 9pm – Button Drawing at Memorial Park. Purchase a commemorative East Jordan Freedom Festival Button to be entered for a chance to win one of nine fabulous prizes, plus one very special, once-in-a-lifetime chance to set off the secular Freedom Festival Fireworks display on Saturday night. Must be present to win.

Saturday

  • 8am – 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Check-in at the Community Basketball Court behind Murphy Field. Must pre-register. Cost is $100/team. Register here.
  • 8:30am – 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at the Community Basketball Court.
  • 12pm – Line-up/Registration for Grand Parade at East Jordan Family Health Center- 601 Bridge St.
  • 3pm – Grand Parade with theme “Live Free in ’23” beginning East Jordan Family Health Center- 601 Bridge St. Register your entry here.
  • 5pm – Lip Sync Contest on the Main Stage in Memorial Park. Contestants must be registered and pre-approved by Friday, June 23rd, 2023. Register here.
  • 6-6:45pm – Live music featuring Midnight Cattle Callers at the Memorial Park Band Shell.
  • 7-7:45pm – Live music featuring Oz Z at the Memorial Park Band Shell.
  • 8:15pm – Grand Festival Raffle at Memorial Park. Win one of 10- $100 cash prizes or the Grand Prize of $1,000. Tickets will be on sale during the festival at the Freedom Festival Information Booth or from any Festival Board Member. Need not be present to win.
  • 8:30-10pm – Live music featuring the Michael Allman Band at the Memorial Park Band Shell.
  • Dusk – Fabulous Fireworks over Memorial Park.

Sunday

  • 7am-12pm – Freedom Lovers Breakfast at the East Jordan Sno-Mobilers Club- 5586 Mt. Bliss Rd. Adults are $9 and kids are $5.
